Gathering of first-generation successors to give their perspectives and interact with audience. How did Roshi train his students? His successors and others who worked directly with him shared their memories as well as insights into his methods.

This rare event capped off our spring zoom roundtable series by visiting with all of Maezumi Roshi’s remaining direct successors who are members of the White Plum Asanga. It also included Seisen Saunders, who was going to be Roshi’s next successor, and Genmyo Smith, Roshi’s long-time jisha. There are quite a few of us who never met our founder, much less train with him, so this is our chance to connect with Maezumi Roshi through those who understood his style best.
