Dainin Roshi began his Zen studies in 1996 at Zen Mountain Monastery in Mt. Tremper, New York. After studying informally with Shugen Roshi, he moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he studied with Shishin Roshi for seven years, including several years in residency at Great Mountain Zen Center.
In 2006, Dainin began studies with his transmitting teacher, David Daishin Brighton, at Prajna Zendo in Lamy, New Mexico. He received Dharma transmission from Daishin Roshi in 2014, and Inka Shomei (final approval) in 2024.

Upon stepping away from that role, he co-founded Satori Wellness, a mindfulness-based consultancy, in 2025, and currently serves as Satori’s CEO.
He has two Dharma successors, David Mushin Keeber of Prajna Zendo and Allen Fuso Stewart of Skyline Zen Center.
