I have practiced as a psychotherapist between 2005 and 2026. I am the author of several books on the cusp of Zen, western philosophy/psychology and the Arts. I created a new approach to psychotherapy called Affect Therapy blending Zen, Butoh, and Psychoanalysis. My forthcoming book is Zen & the Ethics of Joy. I joined the practice in 1996 as a student of Genpo Roshi. I studied Korean Zen and secular dharma for 10 years with Stephen Batchelor and received transmission in March from Ryokan Sensei in March 2026. In 2025 I founded the Wild Ivy Zen Sangha, a growing international community of practitioners.
