Ellen Jikai Birx, Roshi is a Zen teacher and dharma successor of Robert Jinsen Kennedy, SJ, Roshi in the White Plum lineage. She holds a PhD in psychiatric nursing from the University of Texas at Austin and is professor emerita, Radford University, Radford, VA. She is co-founder of New River Zen Community in Blacksburg, VA and author of three books including Selfless Love (Wisdom, 2014) and Embracing the Inconceivable: Interspiritual Practice of Zen and Christianity (Orbis, 2020).
